To change mode

After logging into the UnixWare 7 system, use one of the following methods to change mode:

• Type linux to enter Linux mode and set PATH and environment variables. This is the recommended method. Type <Ctrl-D> or exit to return to UNIX mode.

• Log in as a Linux user; for example, /linux/bin/su - name, where name is your login. Type <Ctrl-D> or exit to return to UNIX mode.

Type uname -a to determine whether you are in UNIX or Linux mode.

• LKP documentation is available from UnixWare 7 SCOhelp. In UNIX mode, type scohelp on the command line, or click on the SCOhelp icon.

• Linux documentation is available from the DocView Help system while in Linux mode (assuming DocView was installed from the Caldera OpenLinux CD).

• In UNIX mode, you can display Linux man pages by prefacing the man command with the full Linux pathname; for example, /linux/usr/bin/man manpage_name. If you are in Linux mode, just type man manpage_name).
