Running applications

Running Linux applications

An application binary is processed differently depending upon whether it is executed from UNIX or Linux mode, and whether it is a UnixWare 7 or Linux binary. See ``Running application binaries'' for an explanation of how binaries are processed by the LKP.

Some Linux applications require a larger /tmp area or adjustments to UnixWare 7 kernel tunable parameters in order to run or perform optimally. See ``Tuning for Linux applications''.

It is important to understand how to switch modes when using the LKP. You might also want to set your keyboard layout for a different country, or adjust your TERM environment variable.
